The young men from Ms. Santana's "Lights, Camera, Action" class have been honored with FIVE Eddy award nominations in the categories of debate, photoessay, survey, interview and overall team in visuals/graphics. The following eight students worked hard to create a news show on the topic of men's vulnerability, gender role in society and mental health: Dennis Bujan, Jr., Anthony Alvarado, Vincent Magnaldi (not pictured), Abraham Diabate, Joseph Cruz, Abel Celestino, Noah Moreno and Ernest Rayford. The competition, News and Views, is headed by ITV in St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers. ITV serves to transmit educational programming created by high school students throughout the Archdiocese from NYC all the way up to Sullivan County NY. Students explore current issues by creating their own news segments for a complete news show which is then judged and awarded during the Eddy awards. The Eddy's are like the Emmy's for high school broadcast journalism students. The Eddy awards ceremony will be held on May 17th. Wish our Hayesmen luck!
