Lectio Divina # 10

Mark 1:14-15
As Hayes enters Advent 2018

Mark 1:14-15

As Hayes enters Advent 2018

Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand.”

Ero cras, a Latin phrase, “Tomorrow, I will be,” is an acronym announcing seven titles for Jesus that are proclaimed in the “O Antiphons” before Christmas.

With a wish of preserving the tradition of “Divine reading” the Church retains the ancient Latin “lectio divina” to describe this slow, silent, repetitive and prayerful reading of the Scripture. Similarly, Ero cras, when read backwards reveals  Sapiens, Adonai, Radix, Clavis, Oriens, Rex, and Emmanuel.  In the English: Wisdom, Lord, Root, Key, Daystar, King, God-with-us.
